Charles E. "Chuck" Galyan

A Memorial to a Cowboy Poet, a Father, a Friend

Reminiscing

When twilight shadows fall And the stars begin to shine

I stand under the heavens Beneath the tall lonesome pines.

Before me lies the valley Behind the Rockies stand

I whisper softly to myself This is my native land.

Here I've built a million castles and planned a million schemes

I've roamed this old world over But always in my dreams.

There is no place on earth That is so dear to me

As this little old log cabin Beneath a tall pine tree.

Here is the view, or part of it anyway, from Chuck Spring, what we call where we sprinkled some of Dad's ashes, in the Canyon outside Thermopolis. He helped put in the road and tunnels through the canyon, and loved to fish there. (Did a Father/Son fishing derby there for a few years.) So this is a appropriate place for his ashes to settle! The canyon shot is sort of special, as it is the shot of the Big Horn River Canyon (some call it Boysen canyon) and is taken from where some of Dad's ashes are sprinkled, so is the view he will hopefully forever see. I want it in my Dad's memorial area for sure, but if you want to put it someplace else too thats ok. (WebSmith's notes: These are excerpts from e-mail from Robin)
